Driver scans are easy to use, and once you have downloaded a program your user control panel will open up and give you a few simple options.  This would normally include a straightforward ‘start scan’ button, which you can literally start scanning straight away, and you may also get more options such as ‘back up and restore’ and ‘manual or automatic scan’.  The back up and restore feature is very useful, as it can be very easy to delete, amend and update files that are actually currently in use, and so if you have made a back up of your files you can easily undo any mistakes by using the restore button.  If you are given a choice of a manual or automatic scan then in most cases you would use the automatic scan, as this is the easiest option for those that do not have an in depth understanding of how registry files work, but if you did want to go into more detail with your driver scan then you could select the manual option, and this will scan the files and then present you with a list of entries that need deleting, amending or updating for you to carry out manually.

Driver scans are easy to use and because they are simple programs they are not too expensive to purchase online.  You can even get free mini scans that will update most of your drivers at no cost on websites such as totallydrivers, but if you are having any problems with your driver files it would be better to purchase a more in depth scan.
